Mini Hexie Update

Testing out the Blogger App on my phone with this snapshot blogpost.

Today is a rainy stormy day...that means it's mini hexie project time.

I have rounded the corner of the halfway mark....

I just found your blog after entering the giveaway at Bonnie's site. I'll be placing my order soon but I also wanted to invite you to join my monthly hexie linky party - next one is 9/17/12.

More than 50 days since we had rain... I'm really missing it... can't think of anything nicer than a

I shall enjoy yours vicariously ;>}

Mickey, does your hexie book tell how to sew the pieces together when they get bigger? I've finished making double ring flowers (with 3/4" hexies) and am now ready to sew them together. I had to fold the flowers quite a bit while sewing on the second ring of hexies... and it got cumbersome. I'm just about ready to start sewing the rings together and don't know how to hold the wad for stitching, or how best to do it (rows vs. bigger blocks?) Does your book give this information? Thanks!

Robin...I remove the paper from any hexie that is joined to another on all sides...this makes putting together much easier. I tend to work in blocks. The pic of my mini hexies...all the paper is gone behind the upper section except for the edges. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mickey! The instructions I had read said to leave the papers in until the entire quilt top was assembled, then to iron the quilt on the wrong side, and only then to remove the papers. I think your way sounds much easier. I had thought I would try working in blocks... glad to hear that has worked well for you.
